Our longest running program, A-Teens is designed for middle school girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. With the assistance of college age counselors, the A-Teens participate in well planned programs, fun filled activities and service projects designed to build self confidence and personal growth.
Inter-active programming has been developed to encourage discussion about current issues and topics young teens face today. There are six topics covered in the span of three years: Self Esteem, Peer Pressure, Loving Myself through Healthy Living, Money and Finances, Dating Relationships, and Cultural Diversity. Introducing new topics each semester helps to maintain a high level of interest. The girls also come together from the different schools for special activities and community service projects.
The A-Teens Program is held one afternoon a week at all AISD middle schools, Wylie Junior High and Clyde Junior High. A-Teens meet in the school cafeteria at 3:30 pm. To register, you may go to the cafeteria on the designated day and the A-Teen staff will be there or, you may call the Alliance for Women & Children at (325) 677-5321.
