About After-school care
- Largest licensed after-school program in Abilene.
- Average of 620 children each day.
- 17 schools; 15 in AISD, Buffalo Gap Elementary, Eula Elementary
- Nutritious snack and drink, arts and crafts, homework and reading, games and puzzles, outside play time, special programs and speakers
About A-Teens
- A-Teens is for girls in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades
- A-Teens is the longest running program of the YWCA and currently serves 5% of the middle school girl population of the total schools we serve.
- A-Teens is designed to empower young women with the tools to make positive choices, become confident young women, and value their individual characteristics and personalities.
- A-Teens provides after-school and summer programs.
- During the school year, A-Teens meets at the five AISD middle schools and at Clyde and Wylie Junior Highs.
- A-Teens has four summer programs – Summer I “Explore Your World” Camp, 8th Grade Girls Camp “Yabbers”, Art Camp and Summer II “Rule Your World” Camp.
 About Women’s Health Awareness
- Serves medically under-served women in 36 counties of West Texas.
- In 2005, the YWCA Breast Cancer Awareness program provided more than 1,100 mammograms and served more than 1,200 women overall.
- Program began in 1991.
- As a BCCCP provider, women diagnosed with invasive cancer through the WHA program may qualify for the "Medical Treatment Act" passed by the Texas Legislature in 2001; which means immediate coverage through Medicaid. We are the only BCCCP program in the region.
 About Women’s Economic Empowerment
- Monthly lunch (1st Thurs.) for women either in business or interested in entering the Workforce.
- 30% networking, 70% presentation of topic that empowers women in the workplace.
